OS X Theme for Nokia Phones

Series 60 3rd Edition (Symbian) Users:

Creating a Series 60 (S60) version of my earlier Series 40 phone theme has been much trickier than I had planned for. As a new S60 user I've learned that there's still a lot of the operating system left for me to learn/use/see. So I've done the best I could given the amount of free time that I've had. I'm also a perfectionist and realize that there's still more for me to work on (like skinning the music player, if possible). I still haven't figured out how to change the icons for everything (the Office Tools Folder and Help Folder in particular). But instead of keeping everyone waiting another 4 or 5 months (and really annoying my wife to boot) I've decided to release a solid "beta." So far, it's only been tested on my E70, but it should work on any 3rd edition of S60 to some degree. Please take a look at the list of known issues first - some of which I can probably fix and some I just don't know how, send me a note if you have any solutions. I'll continue to update the theme, but the process will be slow. In the meantime click on the document icon to download a zipped-up .sis file.

To install the theme you'll need to do the following: Expand the zip file so that you see "Beta11.sis" on your desktop On your phone, go to Tools>App. mgr. then click on the "Options" soft key Then select "Settings" Set "Software installation" to "All" Set "Online certif. check" to "Off" Then send the theme from your computer to your phone*** You'll get a new message in your in box, open it up and click "OK" several times, choosing where you want the theme installed Go to Tools>Themes and select "Beta11" ***The simplest process on the Mac is to use Bluetooth, not sure how you'd do it on a PC or with a data cable.

Known Issues: I can't seem to change some of the folder icons (Office folder, Help folder) in theme editor - let me know if you know how. some of the icons are "fuzzy" or don't scale My install instructions are lacking - if there's a better way of describing the process let me know. File size is too big (3.5 MB) Some of the background bars are too dark. [list current as of December 20]

Nokia Series 40 (3rd Edition) OS X Theme

I've had my Nokia 6270 for 10 days now and I've been extremely pleased with it. But being the 'type a' designer and a hardcore Apple fan that I am has left me yearning for a more mac-like theme. So I've been hacking away in Nokia's theme editor to be able to present you my own theme. It should work with any Series 40, 3rd edition phone from Nokia like the 6111, 6265, 6270 and 6280.

Series 60 3rd Edition (Symbian) Users:
UPDATED (11/16/06) I've just got my shiny new E70, so check back here at the end of November to download an S60 3rd edition theme! When it's done it should work with most E series (E50, E60, E61, E62 and E70) and N series (N70, N72, N73, N80, N90 and N93) phones.

Download this theme:
320 x 240 resolution screens, choose a .zip or .nth file (for Nokia 6265, 6270 and 6280 phones)
160 x 128 resolution screens, choose a .zip or .nth (for Nokia 6111 phones - seems to work except when viewing the Calendar) Telus users: howardforums has a post to help you change your icons.

Nokia Series 40 (2nd Edition) OS X Themes

By popular request I've ported my 3rd edition theme over for 'Series 40 Second Edition' phones. I have much less control over how the themes work for these phones, but have done the best I could. I also didn't have any phones to test these themes against but hopefully they'll look OK. There's four different files for the 4 different screen resolutions that the 2nd edition supports.
